On going

Think I've bitten off a little more than I originally thought with this. Still doing it though.

So far I've created around 120 new teams with kits/colours, dates and other details.

This fills my league as follows

Premier

Division 1

Division 2

Division 3 west : Division 3 East

Division 4
Group 1: 2 : 3 :4 : 5 :6

20 teams in each divsion from premier to division 3s and 6-8 teams in each group of division 4

I'm aiming to create realistic team names so has taken a while. Working on Non players now and then onto players.

With players for the first league going to take a long team with at least 20players per team working out at around 2400 new players, I'm considering making an extension to the English leagues to A test to see if things work and B because it'd be good to play via established teams.

One of the issues with creating a league using countries I'm not from is the team names. It's easy to find towns/villages and cities but it's much harder to do the name. For example in the UK you get teams with names United, athletic, town, city but I'm not so sure about Scandanavia.

Still working on it

Having a couple of problems at the moment, most notably my computer has decided to stop working, so I'm typing this from my backup. Thankfully I can still work on what I'm doing but at a slightly lower speed. I'm not the greatest person with laptops, too small for my liking.

Anyways I'm still trying to work on the league format was planning on doing 3 tiers then a few split tiers below them in order to get some better competition. Sadly I can't seem to get the splits to work.

I had been planning on putting teams like Man
Utd B and Man City B into the league to allow some bigger teams to field reserves and hopefully attract bigger crowds. I've since scrapped that idea and have went for creating teams like London, Manchester, Glasgow and so on that will be affiliated with teams in the area, allowing free movement between the small club and the big club. These clubs will be going into the lowest tier of the league but I'll average out the reputation of the bigger clubs affiliated with them so that the teams will have a higher reputation than most teams. This shouldn't effect the other teams too much though.

My plan was to have a league set up as follows

Premier 20 teams , 3
relegation spots

Div 1 20 teams 3 promotion and 3
relegation spots

Div 2 20 teams 3 promotion and 4
relegation spots

Div 3 2x 20 teams 2 promotion spots in each

Div 4 is where I'm a little unsure. Originally I had planned to have a 12 leagues one for each country but I wouldn't be sure on how to work out how to promote the teams, having 6 teams promoted seems a bit strange. So I think I'll have each doubled into 2 so there is 6 leagues, 3 teams being promoted into each div 3 league. I was aiming to have these leagues be small, around 5 teams each,
amateur teams. Probably play each other twice then have their own little cup whilst the rest of the leagues continue. It's a work in progress

Another issue I'm having is with TV money and prize money. I'm not really sure how much to give each team. In my head the league wouldn't be as big as the major
European leagues so prize money and TV funding will be smaller than the English premier. However I want it bigger than the Scottish league where you only get 1million for winning the premier.

Making it

First of all I should explain that this is a blog about Football manager. In football manager there is the ability to create and edit leagues. Since the new football season is about to start and the new football manager won't be out for a good few months and I dislike starting a new game when I know that there's players moved or retired in real life so I have decided to create my own league.

The league itself is inspired by the fact that in Europe there's not much hope of any team outside of the bigger countries having much hope of European glory, mainly the Champions league.

To start with I have to consider which country to edit. That was fairly easy, I've chosen to edit the Faroe Islands since I actually rather like them and secretly hope they'll become a major footballing power.

After that it comes down to which nations to accept teams from, so far I have Faroe Islands, Iceland, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Wales, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Latvia and Estonia. Originally it was going to be an islands league, taking teams from the Faroes and surrounding islands such as Orkney, Shetland and Aland.

Hardest part is how to set the league up. Obviously I want a good mix and I want it to be a decent sized league. However whilst writing this I'm beginning to wonder if I should create 3 smaller leagues instead, Northern Atlantic, Baltic and Scandinavian leagues. I'll have to think about that overnight.

I know I'll be using the original Faroe Island teams but for the rest I'll be making them up. Wondering to include some B teams or not, such as create Chelsea B, Man Utd B to allow them a place to showcase reserve players in a proper league and add more glamour to the league to attract sponsors and viewers.
